It is last call for teams on the bubble. One more loss and their opportunities to improve their tournament resumes are gone.
There is a misconception that conference tournament games have special importance to the selection committee. They do not. They are just one more game on a team’s schedule. However, one thing that makes them especially helpful is that they are played on neutral courts, so the results are away from home. That slightly helps mitigate the sting of a loss and improves the quality of a win.
There are several bubble teams in action in conference tournaments this week, but only two will take the floor Wednesday. One can play their way out of the field, and one can play their way in.
