The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Northwestern Wildcats are set to clash at 6 p.m. ET March 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in the first round of the Big Ten Tourney.
Nebraska escaped with a win on Sunday against the Wisconsin Badgers by the margin of a single free throw, 74-73. The Cornhuskers’ guard Alonzo Verge Jr. looked sharp as he had 26 points and six assists along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats didn’t have too much trouble with the Minnesota Golden Gophers at home on Sunday as they won 75-62. Northwestern’s forward Pete Nance was one of the most active players for the team, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards in addition to three blocks.
When the two teams last met earlier in the regular season, Nebraska lost to Northwestern on the road by a decisive 77-65 margin. Can Nebraska avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
