Regular Season Records: Utah Valley 20-11; Abilene Christian 20-9
What to Know
The Abilene Christian Wildcats and the Utah Valley Wolverines are set to clash at 11:30 p.m. ET March 9 at Orleans Arena in the second round of the Western Athletic Conference Tourney. Abilene Christian earned an 80-76 win in their most recent contest against the Wolverines in December of last year.
Abilene Christian didn’t have too much breathing room in their game with the Tarleton State Texans this past Saturday, but they still walked away with a 61-56 victory.
Meanwhile, Utah Valley earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 69-47 margin over the Chicago State Cougars. It should come as no surprise that the experts had more or less unanimously put their money on Utah Valley. Their center Fardaws Aimaq did his thing and had 20 points along with six boards.
A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Abilene Christian comes into the matchup boasting the most takeaways per game in college basketball at 21.8. Less enviably, the Wolverines are fifth worst in college basketball in turnovers per game, with 15.3 on average.
