Warriors to work out free agent Tyreke Evans this week

Report: Dubs to work out free agent Tyreke Evans this week originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Free agent guard Tyreke Evans will be working out with the Warriors this week, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Evans was reinstated to play in the NBA after a two-year ban for violating the league’s anti-drug program, and is now able to work out for teams.

The 10-year NBA veteran was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, and was the 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year.

He has played on various teams since, but last played with the Indiana Pacers during the 2018-19 season.

Over the course of his career, the 32-year-old averaged 15.7 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 594 games.

Evans is the first player in the league to be suspended and reinstated since Chris “Birdman” Andersen in 2008.

The NBA/NBPA drug policy calls for a two-year suspension of a player if he tests positive for what’s considered a “drug of abuse.”
