Steph Curry still has signed LeBron James memento from Davidson game

Steph kept jersey LeBron signed for him after Davidson game originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

LeBron James was a fan of Steph Curry long before he revolutionized the game of basketball.

Before the two superstars faced off against one another in five straight NBA Finals, James had his eye on Curry during his collegiate career at Davidson.

Curry joined former NBA guard J.J. Redick on “The Old Man and The Three” podcast, where he recalled the time James attended a Davidson game while the Cleveland Cavaliers were in town, and the full-circle experience that followed.

“I wish y’all could have been on our team bus in Detroit going back and forth from the game, hearing these rumors like ‘hey, I think Bron’s coming to the game.'” Curry recalled. “What? ‘Yeah they’re playing Detroit later, somebody called the Davidson staff for some tickets for Bron to sit in our section. ‘What are you talking about?’ This is probably his fourth year in the league, so nobody believed he’d show up. Then we get to Ford Field and lo and behold right when tip-off’s happening, here comes Rich [Paul], Bron, like five or six people and he’s there just being a fan and watching us play. Fast forward six years later we’re playing against each other in the Finals, it’s a wild experience.”

One year later, Curry and James met again at a game in Charlotte where LeBron gifted Curry a jersey with a special message on it that would prove to be true and then some.

“At my dad’s house in North Carolina, I still have a Bron jersey on the wall in my bedroom he signed,” Curry shared. “The next year he came to Charlotte and went to the game and signed the jersey ‘the greatest shooter in North Carolina’ or something like that. He signed it and I kept it, gave me his shoes after the game, so it’s still wild to think about the journey since then.”
