Celtics eliminate Hawks in Game 6, sets up semifinals matchup with Sixers

[ad_1]

The Philadelphia 76ers finally know their Round 2 opponent. After sweeping the Brooklyn Nets on April 22, they had been waiting around in limbo to get an opponent for the Eastern Conference semifinals.

After squandering an opportunity at home in Game 5, the Boston Celtics responded and eliminated the Atlanta Hawks 128-120 on Thursday in Game 6. Boston received big games from the Jays as Jaylen Brown had 32 points and five rebounds while Jayson Tatum added 30 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Celtics will now advance to face the Sixers in Round 2 with Game 1 of this series set for Monday at the TD Garden in Boston. The Sixers will have their hands full with this talented Celtics team, but the time off should be very beneficial for them.

Of course, the status of Joel Embiid will be a big talking point over the next couple of days heading into this series. Coach Doc Rivers revealed on Thursday that the big fella was visiting with the doctors so an update on him should be released soon.
