Sixers star Joel Embiid’s injury considered to be more serious

[ad_1]

As the Philadelphia 76ers continue their preparation for the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, they might have to do so without MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid.

Coach Doc Rivers revealed on Saturday that the big fella is likely doubtful to play in Monday’s Game 1 against the Celtics as he has yet to really get on the court and do anything to move him toward playing. Embiid suffered a sprained LCL on April 20 in a Game 3 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Now, per Shams Charania, the injury is considered to be more serious than a Grade 1 LCL sprain. Obviously, not the type of news the Sixers want to hear as they prepare for the Celtics, though Embiid could play through pain to help Philadelphia.

Without Embiid, it would be very tough for the Sixers to knock off a very good Celtics team. Boston has a lot of players they can turn to for production and everything Philadelphia does is based on Embiid and what he brings to the floor.
