Celtics’ Jayson Tatum still optimistic about Boston’s chances down 0-2 to Miami

[ad_1]

The Boston Celtics find themselves in a 0-2 deficit as their 2023 Eastern Conference Finals series with the Miami Heat now shifting to South Florida for Games 3 and 4. But star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum thinks his team can still pull off an improbable series win to advance to the 2023 NBA Finals, even if he does admit it won’t be easy to do.

“It’s tough; it’s a challenge,” said Tatum to reporters postgame on Friday night. “There’s no point in being up here sad. They came in and won two games, they played well — you give them credit.”

“We’re not dead or anything,” added the St. Louis native. “We’ve got a great opportunity.”

“I still have the most confidence; everybody has the most confidence and we just have got to get ready for Game 3,” offered Tatum.

The Celtics have indeed come back from a 0-2 series deficit — and against a team led by Jimmy Butler, at that — in the 2017 postseason vs. the Chicago Bulls.

But asking this group of young and inconsistent stars to put forth the sort of effort to beat a team that just beat them twice on the road in three out of the next four games in the series is looking like quite the crucible for this wilting ball club.
