College basketball top 50 transfer portal rankings: Arizona lands Caleb Love, star of UNC’s 2022 NCAA run

Arizona’s reload took a major step forward Wednesday, when the Wildcats received a commitment from North Carolina transfer Caleb Love. The former McDonald’s All-American has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will pair with Alabama transfer Jaden Bradley and former five-star prospect Kylan Boswell to give Arizona a formidable 2023-24 backcourt.

The Wildcats lost veteran point guard Kerr Kriisa to West Virginia while guards Courtney Ramey and Cedric Henderson Jr. exhausted their eligibility last season as the Wildcats finished 28-7 with an upset loss to No. 15 seed Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Though statistically inefficient at North Carolina, Love is an explosive offensive player who ranks No. 17 in the CBS Sports Transfer Rankings.

He helped guide UNC to an appearance in the national title game during the 2021-22 season as a sophomore but struggled to build on that run last season as the Tar Heels missed out on the NCAA Tournament after beginning the season at No. 1 in the AP poll. A fresh start under offensive-minded Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd could be what Love needs to rejuvenate a once-promising career.
