The NBA Finals are underway, and the Denver Nuggets have struck first. Hosting their first championship game since the NBA/ABA merger, the Nuggets beat the Heat, 104-93. For the first time this postseason Miami lost a Game 1. Game 2 will be in Denver Sunday night.
Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray became only the second set of teammates to score at least 25 points and collect at least 10 assists in the same NBA Finals game, matching the feat first accomplished by Magic Johnson and James Worthy for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987. Jokic, who tallied 27 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, became only the second player to post a triple-double in his NBA Finals debut. Jason Kidd (23-10-10) achieved the feat for the New Jersey Nets in 2002.
