No. 47 pick Mojave King to play overseas, opening up two-way deal for Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS — Mojave King, the guard from G League Ignite who the Pacers drafted 47th in Thursday’s draft, will play overseas this season according to a league source.

That allows the Pacers to maintain his draft rights, but he will not count against the Pacers’ roster limits. The new collective bargaining agreement allows teams to have three players on two-way contracts, meaning the players spend time with both their NBA team and G League affiliate. The Pacers are expected to put Miami guard Isaiah Wong, who they drafted at No. 55, on a two-way deal. Kentucky big man and undrafted free agent Oscar Tshiebwe confirmed on his Twitter account that he has signed a two-way contract with the Pacers, and with King stashed away the Pacers can maintain wing Kendall Brown on a two-way contract for another season.

King was born in New Zealand and grew up in Australia. Prior to playing with G League Ignite this season, he played professionally in the National Basketball League, a league made up of teams in Australia and New Zealand. The 21-year-old King, a 6-5, 195-pound guard, averaged 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in his lone season with G League Ignite.

Brown appeared in six games with the Pacers this season, averaging 1.5 points in those games. He averaged 9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in G League play with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, but missed much of the season with an injured leg.
