UNC basketball reaches out to West Virginia player in portal

[ad_1]

With Bob Huggins resigning from the West Virginia basketball program, Mountaineers players have had to make decisions on whether or not to stay with the program or enter the transfer portal.

For center Mohamed Wague, his decision was to enter the transfer portal and find a new home this Summer. And already, he’s drawing a lot of interest from teams including North Carolina.

Per 24/7 High School Hoops, North Carolina has been in contact with Wague in the portal as they look to add some depth at the center position for the 2023-24 season.

UNC is one of 19 teams that have been in contact including Kansas State, Alabama, Oregon, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Georgetown, and Cal among others.

The 6-foot-9, 195-pound center averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game last season.

With Armando Bacot returning as well as Jalen Washington, there’s still room in the post for the Tar Heels to add. Wague is an intriguing option for the Tar Heels and we will have to see if they explore this possibility even more.
