Texas Tech basketball gets Villanova to begin Battle 4 Atlantis

The Battle 4 Atlantis field is set, and it features a rematch for the Texas Tech basketball team.

The Thanksgiving week tournament will see the Red Raiders taking on Villanova in the first round on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Tip is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.

This will mark the first meeting between the two teams since they squared off in the 2018 Elite Eight, which saw Villanova emerge with the win to advance to the Final Four.

Texas Tech and Villanova will meet in the first round of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 22. The teams last played in the 2018 Elite Eight.

Villanova features sophomore guard Brendan Hausen, an Amarillo High graduate who played 32 games and averaged 3.1 points as a freshman for the Wildcats.

Tech is making its first appearance in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis, which is played at Imperial Arena on Paradise Island.

The winner of the Tech-Villanova game will take on the winner of North Carolina-Northern Iowa, which begins the tournament action at 11 a.m. on ESPN that day. On the other side of the bracket, Michigan takes on Memphis (4 p.m. on ESPN2) and Arkansas faces Stanford (6:30 p.m. on ESPNU).

Each team is guaranteed to play three games throughout the tournament. Other non-conference games officially announced for Tech include a Nov. 30 trip to Hinkle Fieldhouse to take on Butler in the Big 12-Big East Battle. Earlier this week, it was announced the Red Raiders will play Vanderbilt Dec. 16 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
