Warriors 4-time champion not expected to return

[ad_1]

Andre Iguodala has been a vital piece in the Golden State Warriors championship puzzle during his seven-year tenure with the franchise. After winning three championships in six years, Iguodala moved to the Miami Heat, where he spent two seasons, before playing one final year with the Warriors in the 2021-22 season – where he won his fourth championship.

Since then, Iguodala has been out of the NBA. However, Golden State has maintained that the door is open for their championship-winning veteran, should he choose to return. Yet, it would appear that stance has softened over the summer. As part of an exclusive interview with NBC Sports Bay Area on the ‘Dubs Talk’ podcast, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy has cast doubt on Iguodala re-joining the team for another shot at a championship.

“My sense is Andre’s probably got some other stuff going,” Dunleavy said. “But he has my number. The phone is always on…We’ve communicated some this summer already. We’ll see. We’re not going to close the door on anything…But my guess, and my belief, is that he won’t be back.”

Iguodala would be entering his age-39 season if he was to make a return to Golden State ahead of the new season. Furthermore, the veteran forward would likely find minutes difficult to come by at this late stage in his career.

As such, it makes sense that Iguodala may choose to remain away from the NBA so that he can focus on other business ventures, including his current podcast with former NBA forward Evan Turner.
