Game time set for Marquette men’s basketball vs Western Kentucky in 2024 NCAA Tournament opener

Marquette fans who were hoping for a night game Friday are out of luck.

Those who were hoping to travel to Indianapolis on the same day to watch the second-seeded Golden Eagles (25-9) face No. 15 seed Western Kentucky (22-11) in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament will have to get going before the sun comes up.

Marquette plays the first game of the afternoon session at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. CT.

Marquette Basketball Schedule

The Golden Eagles finished 25-9 and 14-6 in the Big East conference. Their best wins were at Illinois, Kansas in the Maui Invitational and Creighton at Fiserv Forum. They had a 1-4 record against the other two Big East teams in the tournament (Connecticut, Creighton).

Marquette will be playing in their 36th NCAA Tournament. Marquette won its only national championship in 1977 and reached the Final Four in 1974 and 2003.

Last season the Golden Eagles also received a No. 2 seed and defeated Vermont before losing to Michigan State.
