The Knicks and Nets may be on different paths as the 2023-24 season winds down, but the crosstown rivals went at it on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. It was a back-and-forth affair with several lead changes until the Knicks finally pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 105-93 victory.

Here are the takeaways…

– Donte DiVincenzo was the star of the game for the Knicks, finishing with a game-high 31 points, but it was his impact in the fourth quarter that made all the difference.

After the Nets tied the game at 80, DiVincenzo took over, going on his own 7-0 run to extend the Knicks’ lead to 87-80. At 8:56 left in the quarter, DiVincenzo gave the Knicks their largest lead of the game by draining a 23-foot three-pointer to put New York up 92-80 and they wouldn’t look back from there.

– Miles McBride continues to be a breath of fresh air for New York. The 23-year-old – getting the start with OG Anunoby out with an elbow injury – again provided a spark on both ends of the floor. He finished with 26 points, including 6-of-12 from three-point range and playing physical defense.

McBride knocked down a big shot in the fourth when Josh Hart saved a ball from going out of bounds, finding the youngster wide open from beyond the arc. McBridge drained the three, putting the Knicks up 13.

– Jalen Brunson did not have his best game, shooting 7-for-24 from the floor, but he made his impact felt in other ways. He led the team with eight assists and did manage to get some big shots to fall when the team needed it.

With 2:44 left in the third quarter and the Knicks trailing by one, Brunson drained aa deep three-pointer from 25 feet out to give the Knicks aa 76-74 lead. How big of a momentum-shifter was that shot? They would not trail again for the remainder of the game.

– The Nets, who were hot from the floor all game and shot 50% from three in the first half, suddenly got cold in the fourth quarter. After tying the game they missed 11 consecutive shots from the floor, allowing DiVincenzo and the Knicks to capitalize and build their lead. Brooklyn was held to just 16 points in the quarter.

– The win moves the Knicks into…
