The Knicks signed forward Jacob Toppin to a two-way contract, the team announced on Wednesday.
Toppin, 24, appeared in nine games with New York last season, scoring 13 points (5-for-9 from the field, 1-for-4 from three) with seven rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of action.
New York has now used all three available two-way player spots after previously signing 2024 second-round draft picks Kevin McCullar Jr. and Ariel Hukporti to two-way contracts.
Last season was Toppin’s first with the organization, initially signing a 10-day contract before signing a two-way contract on March 4 — the deadline for teams to sign players to such deals.
In 25 regular season games with the G-League’s Westchester Knicks, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged 19.8 points on 48.8 percent shooting (14.7 attempts per game) and 33.8 percent from three (5.2 attempts per game) with 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and one block in 36.7 minutes.
Toppin led Westchester to the 2023-24 G-League Showcase Cup Tournament Championship with 23 points, eight rebounds, and four steals in the final.
Toppin went undrafted out of the University of Kentucky in 2023, but he earned a contract with the Knicks after putting together a strong training camp showing.
Toppin is the younger brother of former Knicks first-round draft pick Obi Toppin. He competed in the 2024 NBA Dunk Contest but failed to make it out of the first round.
