Although Kansas is coming off of a season in which it fell short of its Big 12 Conference and national goals, it’s still one of the favorites to win the Big 12 and a national title this upcoming season. That’s not just because head coach Bill Self returns veterans who’ve enjoyed success at this level. It’s also because Self and his staff have recruited well since last season ended.

Self has a core back that features graduate center Hunter Dickinson, graduate guard Dajuan Harris Jr. and senior forward KJ Adams Jr., among others. He’s added high-profile transfers such as junior guard AJ Storr (Wisconsin), senior guard Zeke Mayo (South Dakota State) and junior guard Rylan Griffen (Alabama). Other names to know include a couple of transfers in senior guard David Coit (Northern Illinois) and graduate guard Shakeel Moore (Mississippi State), as well as a freshman duo of guard Rakease Passmore and forward Flory Bidunga.

Late Night in the Phog is set for Oct. 18 in Lawrence inside a newly-renovated Allen Fieldhouse. There’s an exhibition that’s been announced for Oct. 29 at home against Washburn. The regular season opener is Nov. 4 at home against Howard.
