Providence College has drawn a familiar opponent to begin its men’s basketball stay in the Bahamas.
The Friars have been matched up with Oklahoma in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. Providence and the Sooners will tip at 5 p.m. Nov. 27 to begin their three-game trip through one of the top Thanksgiving tournaments in the sport. The game will be shown on ESPN2 and streamed on the broadcast giant’s website.
The Friars played Oklahoma last season as part of the Big East-Big 12 Battle and the result was the ugliest nonconference loss they suffered in 2023-24. The Sooners buried Providence in the second half to post a 72-51 victory, pulling away over the final 10 minutes. Providence closed just 5-for-23 from 3-point range and put only two players in double figures while being run out of the Noble Center.

Devin Carter topped the Friars with 17 points while Josh Oduro chipped in 15. Both have since departed to begin their professional futures. Javian McCollum led four Oklahoma players in double figures with 19 points while Milos Uzan added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Sooners have reloaded in the transfer portal, including the addition of a familiar face. Brycen Goodine is in Norman to finish his college basketball career, a New Bedford native and former Friars guard who spent the last two seasons at Fairfield. Goodine averaged 13.9 points and shot 46.7% from 3-point range for the Stags last year.
