Dusty May has officially completed his first roster at Michigan, and the final piece is of a familiar face.
On Monday, the men’s basketball program announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Charlie May, one of Dusty May’s three sons, has transferred from UCF and joined the program for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
He is the sixth player to transfer and play for May since he took over the program in March. 247Sports has Michigan at No. 10 in the country in its transfer portal rankings.

Charlie May, who is listed as a 6-foot-4 guard on Michigan’s official roster, will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Wolverines as he redshirted his true freshman year at UCF.
At UCF this past season, Charlie May came off the bench six times where he recorded a defensive rebound on three different occasions. The Boca Raton, Florida native averaged 7.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game his senior year in high school at Saint Andrew’s School.
Dusty May will look to restore a Wolverines program that underwhelmed the last three seasons under former coach Juwan Howard. The Wolverines finished 8-24 last season under Howard.
In his six seasons at FAU, Dusty May took the program to new heights, as highlighted by the Owls’ March Madness run in 2023 that included wins over Tennessee and Kansas State en route to the program’s first Final Four appearance.
Michigan’s season will tip off on Monday, Nov. 4 vs. Cleveland State at the Crisler Center. The Wolverines are also set to play in several showcase games in Dusty May’s first season, including the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden vs. Arkansas on Dec. 10 and the Jumpman Invitational vs. Oklahoma on Dec. 18.
