Steve Woodberry returns to Missouri State basketball as assistant under Cuonzo Martin

Steve Woodberry is returning to Missouri State and will serve as an assistant men’s basketball coach under Cuonzo Martin.

Woodberry was previously an assistant at Missouri State from 2006-12, serving under Barry Hinson, Martin during his first stint with the Bears and the program’s first season under Paul Lusk.

He left the Bears to join the Tulsa coaching staff as an assistant from 2012-14. He was on Wake Forest’s staff under Danny Manning from 2014-20.

Recent years have seen the former Kansas Jayhawks standout work as an NBA scout for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Woodberry joins Martin’s staff which includes Tarrance Crump, Carson Cunningham and Marco Harris. The staff replaces the one under Dana Ford who was fired at the end of the 2023-24 season.

It’s worth noting that Woodberry has a Class of 2025 son, Sherron Woodberry, a 6-foot-3 guard playing for Olathe West (Kansas). He’s considered a “budding star” and was named a Sports in Kansas 6A Boys All-State honorable mention selection last season.
