Sep. 4—The Illinois women’s basketball team could make a big splash on the recruiting trail later this week.
That’s when five-star in-state Class of 2025 point guard will announce her college commitment. The Whitney Young standout is set to reveal her college decision at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the school’s gym.
The 5-foot-6 guard ranked No. 24 in the 2025 class, according to ‘s HoopGurlz, has long been a priority target for Illini coach .
Jackson announced a top-five of Illinois, West Virginia, North Carolina, Arizona and Baylor last month after putting up 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals last season as a junior for the Dolphins. Jackson shot 37 percent from the floor, including 25 percent on three-pointers.
The possibility of adding Jackson would represent another major recruiting win for Green, as the highest-profile in-state recruit for the third-year Illini coach. Former Lincoln-Way East center and current Illinois freshman was the first in-state player to join the Illini program out of high school.
The 2024 class also saw Illinois bring in a five-star McDonald’s girls’ basketball All-American in wing/forward . The Illini are looking for their first 2025 commit despite being engaged with several highly rated prospects with Jackson and Davenport (Iowa) guard at the top of the list in terms of recruiting rankings. Illinois was also among six finalists for Bourrage, a five-star, top-five recruit per ESPN.
