Big Ten Power Rankings: Where does MSU land after big road win?

Michigan State football is in first place in the Big Ten. This may be the last time we can say that this year, but that’s the case after the Spartans picked up a big-time road win in their conference opener.

Michigan State used a fourth quarter comeback to beat Maryland, 27-24, on Saturday. The win improved Michigan State to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The win was huge for the Spartans’ efforts in trying to make a bowl game this year, and also pushed Michigan State up the list in our weekly power rankings.

18. Northwestern

Northwestern drops after a double-overtime loss to Duke on Friday night. There’s no shame in losing to Duke, but the Wildcats currently look like the worst team in the Big Ten.

17. UCLA

UCLA was off this week and return to action in an intriguing matchup against Indiana. We should know more about both of those teams and where they stand in the Big Ten after that matchup.
