ISU men’s basketball to play in Bahamas tournament

Perhaps the last unresolved component of preparations for Indiana State’s 2024 men’s basketball season is now complete. The Sycamores will play in the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship, a six-team event Nov. 29-Dec. 1 in the Bahamas.

Also in the field are Arkansas State, Hofstra, Iona, Rice and Tarleton State, the ISU sports information office reported Monday. The event is non-bracketed.

First-year Sycamore Coach Matthew Graves’ squad are scheduled to play Arkansas State at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, then face Iona at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, and finish with a 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 game vs. Tarleton State.

Arkansas State finished last season 20-17 overall and 11-7 in the Sun Belt Conference. Iona is coming off 2023-24 records of 16-17 overall and 10-10 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Tarleton State posted stellar records of 25-10 overall and 16-4 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Of the other teams in the field, Hofstra finished its season 20-13 and 12-6 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), while Rice finished an 11-21 and 5-13 in the American Athletic Conference.

Friday: Iona vs. Tarleton State, 2 p.m.; Arkansas State vs. Indiana State, 4:30 p.m.; Hofstra vs. Rice, 7 p.m.

Saturday: Indiana State vs. Iona, 2 p.m.; Tarleton State vs. Hofstra, 4:30 p.m.; Rice vs. Arkansas State, 7 p.m.
