PEORIA — The Illinois basketball team produced a fast-break start to their 2025 recruiting class this week by landing four-star combo guard prospect Keaton Wagler.
The ratings site, 247 Sports, ranked the 6-foot-6 Wagler as the No. 1 prospect in Kansas for the 2025 class and the 150th overall in the nation.
Wagler led Shawnee (Kan.) Mission Northwest to a state championship as a junior last season while averaging 12.5 points per game. He shot 50% from 3-point range and grabbed 6.0 rebounds per game to lead a 25-0 Cougars.

He visited the Illini last weekend, following visits to Minnesota, Murray State, Southern Illinois and Colorado State. The emerging 3-point sniper also had offers from Tulsa, Saint Louis, DePaul, Oral Roberts, UIC, Northern Colorado, Le Moyne, Texas-Rio Grand Valley, Kansas City and Rockhurst.
