Meet Illinois basketball roster: Breaking down the Fighting Illini ahead of 2024-25 season

The Illinois basketball team came together last season under coach Brad Underwood and had one its best seasons in a generation, winning the Big Ten Conference Tournament and advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

The Illini lost their top scorers to either the pros or the transfer portal, including superstar wing Terrance Shannon Jr. and crafty point guard Marcus Domask. Athletic wing Coleman Hawkins is now at Kansas State.

Now Illinois has reloaded with a deft mix of talent across the transfer portal, preps and abroad. Here is a look at each player listed on the 2024-25 roster — split by transfers, international players, high school recruits and returnees.

The 6-2, 205-pound native of Champaign is back home after transferring from Arizona, where is started nearly every game for the 27-9 Wildcats, who made the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds.

Ben Humrichous, No. 3, graduate student forward

The 6-9, 225-pound Indiana native is a transfer from Evansville who started 24 games last season, leading the Missouri Valley Conference team with 14.7 points per game. The NAIA transfer was second on the team in rebounding at 4.7 per game and was named to the MVC All-Newcomer Team.

Carey Booth, No. 0, sophomore forward

The 6-foot-10, 215-pounder transferred from Notre Dame, where the Colorado native averaged 20 minutes across 33 games. He’s a versatile big man with the ability to shoot the 3. He averaged 6.4 points, 4.3 rebounds for ND.

Jake Davis, No. 15, sophomore forward

The 6-6, 205-pound Indiana native transferred from mid-major Mercer, where he was among the team’s leaders in scoring (9.0 ppg) and rebounding (4.5 rpg) while starting 25 games. He shot a nearly 40 percent from 3-point range (60-for-155) for the Southern Conference program.

Tre White, No. 22, junior guard

The 6-7, 210-pound Texas native is a transfer from Louisville, where he averaged 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and shot 45.6 percent in 26 starts as a…
