No. 14 Purdue wins exhibition game

WEST LAFAYETTE — The No. 14-ranked Purdue men’s basketball team beat NCAA Division II-school Grand Valley State 99-41 in an exhibition game on Wednesday night at Mackey Arena.

Purdue coach Matt Painter had 12 different players register at least 10 minutes of playing time.

Fletcher Loyer, Trey Kaufman-Renn and C.J. Cox scored 15 points apiece to lead the Boilers and Kaufman-Reen had 10 rebounds. Gicarri Harris scored 12 points and Myles Colvin had 10 points. Braden Smith, the Big Ten’s Preseason Player of the Year, had seven points, five rebounds and five assists.

Kokomo’s Jace Rayl played four minutes for Purdue. He did not attempt a shot.

Purdue hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday to open the regular season.
