Alabama basketball injury update: Three return for opener on ‘minutes restriction’ | Report

Alabama basketball is expected to have three of its sidelined roster members back for the season opener against UNC-Asheville on Monday night.

Coach Nate Oats told college basketball media network Field of 68 that returning Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Grant Nelson and Aiden Sherell are “all expected to play” per a report from basketball analyst Jeff Goodman on Sunday.

Goodman added that each player “will come off the bench” and operate on a “minutes restriction” versus the Bulldogs.

Oats said use of the trio would be a game-day decision last Thursday when providing an injury update during the first media availability of the 2024-25 season. He said all had practiced throughout the week with limited capacity, but Wright (lower leg) was “furthest along,” then Sherrell (lower leg) and Nelson (abdomen).

“See how they recover after today’s practice,” Oats told reporters last week. “What they look like tomorrow. … See if we can get them in a little bit more Saturday and see where they’re at by Sunday.”
