Knicks signing guard Boo Buie to two-way deal

The Knicks are signing guard Boo Buie to a two-way deal, reports Shams Charania of ESPN.

Buie spent some time with New York earlier this season, before being waived on Oct. 9.

The signing of Buie is the third move the Knicks have made in recent days, with the club also agreeing to a traditional deal with Ariel Hukporti and a deal with Matt Ryan, per SNY’s Ian Begley.

According to Begley, Ryan will be on a standard one-year deal that will be non-guaranteed.

Because Ryan will be on a non-guaranteed deal, the Knicks will have a pathway to create enough room under the second apron to re-sign Landry Shamet if they so choose.

As far as Buie, the 24-year-old played with the Phoenix Suns in the Summer League in Las Vegas and averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds while averaging over 21 minutes over five games.

The 6-foot-2 guard went undrafted out of Northwestern University after he led the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history.

Last season, his fifth in college, Buie averaged 18.9 points, 5.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36.6 minutes per game with 31 starts. He also earned the Lefty Driesell Defensive Player of the Year award.

Buie left the school as the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,187 points). Buie, an Albany, NY native, earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors in each of the last two seasons.
