MADISON – Max Klesmit came out of his shell Thursday night.
Wisconsin’s guard didn’t have his shooting touch in an exhibition win over UW-River Falls and in the season-opening win over Holy Cross on Monday night.
Against Montana State he was back on track.
Klesmit hit seven of 15 shots, including six of 11 from three-point range for 26 points in a 79-67 victory over the Bobcats at the Kohl Center.
Wisconsin (2-0) led by as many as 17 points It broke open the game with a 12-3 run that started during the final minute of half and went into the first 2 minutes of the second half.

The run turned a two point Badgers lead into a 47-36 edge at the 18:18 mark of the second half. It was the first time UW led by double digits.
Montana State, which was playing its season opener, never came closer than nine points the rest of the night.
Graduate student guard John Tonje added 13 points for the Badgers and hit eight of nine from the free throw line in the first half. Sophomore guard John Blackwell also finished with 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. Senior guard Kamari McGee added 11 points and had a couple of tough finishes at the basket.
Montana State, which is one of the favorites in the Big Sky this season, got a team-high 14 points from senior guard Brian Goracke.
