Akron Zips, Kent State Golden Flashes win in men’s basketball

Akron 88, Ohio Wesleyan 57

The University of Akron men’s basketball team opened its home schedule Friday night with an 88-57 win over Ohio Wesleyan at Rhodes Arena. It was the first meeting between the Battling Bishops and the Zips since 1968. Bowen Hardman’s 15 points led five players in double figures for the Zips (1-1). Hardman connected on five of 10 3-point attempts off the Akron bench. Sharron Young added 13 points off the bench for Akron, while starting guard Isaiah Gray also scored 13.

Kent State 98, Miami-Hamilton 53

VonCameron Davis and Cli’Ron Hornbeak each scored 18 points for the Golden Flashes (2-0) in an easy win at the M.A.C. Center. Kent led 50-23 halftime and then almost doubled their scoring output in the second half, finishing with 48 points.
