MANHATTAN — Kansas State basketball faces Cleveland State from the Horizon League in an afternoon game Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum while the football team is idle.
The Wildcats (1-0) are coming off a workmanlike 89-65 victory at home against New Orleans on Tuesday, a game in which they trailed by 10 points midway through the first half but took control with a 24-5 run to end the period and remained in control the rest of the way.
Forward David N’Guessan, who returned as a fifth-year graduate for the extra season granted by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic, led the Wildcats with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the opener. Transfer guards Max Jones (Cal State Fullerton) and Brendan Hausen (Villanova) each hit four 3-pointers and combined for 36 points in their official K-State debuts.

This will be Cleveland State’s third game this week after opening with a 101-53 loss Monday at Michigan and then blowing out Baldwin Wallace at home Wednesday, 91-53. Third-year coach Daniyal Robinson’s Vikings are led by junior forward Dylan Arnett with 13 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and freshman guard Je’Shawn Stevenson, who averages 12.5 points off the bench.
