College basketball rankings: Where Kansas basketball ranks in coaches poll after Week 1

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball held firm at No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, after winning back-to-back games during the first week of its season.

The No. 1 Jayhawks (2-0) topped both Howard and UNC at home. They coasted by Howard, before surviving a battle inside Allen Fieldhouse against North Carolina. And coming up, they’ll soon be tested again.

Kansas has a natural site game Tuesday in Atlanta against Michigan State (2-0). It’s yet another edition of the Champions Classic. The last time these two sides met, back during the 2021-22 season, the Jayhawks defeated the Spartans.
