Everyone knows that LeBron James skipped college to go straight into the NBA back in 2003. It has worked out extremely well for him, as he has become one of the greatest players in basketball history and is still going strong in his 22nd pro season.
But there is something to be said about the experience of playing college basketball, especially for a prominent basketball school. The environment, especially at home games, is unlike any other, and it gives one a chance to showcase his talents and potential before entering the meat-grinder known as the NBA.
James revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he had a dream about playing for Duke University at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the site of its home games, for the legendary now-retired head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Just woke up from having a dream I was playing for Duke for Coach K inside Cameron Indoor Stadium! It was INSANE in there. Told Coach K it was an honor to suit up for him and he said the same thing back to me. He’s such a LEGEND! Then…..

In the real world, James did get to play for Krzyzewski — as a member of Team USA men’s basketball during the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Of course, he also played in this past summer’s Olympics under Steve Kerr and earned his third Olympic gold medal, not to mention the MVP of the men’s basketball tournament in Paris.
