BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana basketball team took care of business during the first week of the 2024-25 season with wins over Brown and Eastern Illinois.
The Hoosiers (2-0; 0-0 Big Ten) outscored EIU by 36 points in the second half on Sunday at Assembly Hall.
Indiana’s success helped the team move up two spots in this week’s USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll to No. 16. The Hoosiers had the same ranking in this week’s AP Poll.

The only Big Ten team ranked higher in the poll is Purdue at No. 1. The conference now has five teams ranked with Illinois at No. 20, Ohio State at No. 22 and Rutgers at No. 24.
Indiana basketball has nearly a week off before it hosts South Carolina on Saturday. It’s the lone high major team the Hoosiers are playing in their non-conference scheduled outside the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Gamecocks are 1-1 and lost to North Florida to open the season.
