Here are the 20 Evansville-area athletes playing Division I college basketball in 2024-25

EVANSVILLE — The 2024 NCAA men’s and women’s basketball seasons are just now getting started.

A total of 20 individuals from Southwestern Indiana are currently playing at the Division I level. Here is a look at all of those standouts, listed in alphabetical order:

Weston Aigner

High school: Castle

College: Evansville

Year: Sophomore

The 6-3 guard played in eight games for the Purple Aces last winter and registered six points, three rebounds and two steals against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. Had five points and a rebound in his season debut Saturday against Brescia.

Blake Anderson

High school: Memorial

College: Miami (Ohio)

Year: Sophomore

The 6-3 guard appeared in seven games for the Redhawks last season. A big highlight of his during the year was his 3-pointer against Wilberforce. Has yet to see game action this winter.

Amiyah Buchanan

High school: North

College: Southern Indiana

Year: Sophomore

Buchanan made an impact in her Screaming Eagles debut with a 13-point, six-rebound, four-steal performance against Brescia. The 6-foot forward had a strong freshman campaign at Southeast Missouri State, leading her team in rebounds with 135.

Dakota Candler

High school: South Knox

College: Evansville

Year: Sophomore

The 6-5 forward played in five games last winter, registering two points and four boards against UHSP and making a free throw in the College Basketball Invitational against Seattle. Registered two points, a rebound, and an assist in his season debut against Brescia.

Luke Davis

High school: Evansville Christian

College: Southern Indiana

Year: Freshman

The 6-8 forward hasn’t seen game action yet for the Eagles but has shown physicality on the boards throughout his prep career. Averaged a career-high 7.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in his final year at…
