Kansas basketball earns commitment from 2025 4-star prospect

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball added to its 2025 recruiting class Wednesday with a commitment from Samis Calderon.

Calderon, a 247Sport Composite four-star small forward, will arrive by way of Overtime Elite. Listed at 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds, he’s the No. 12-ranked player at his position and the No. 55-ranked player overall in the nation. Calderon made the announcement of his pledge to the Jayhawks on Overtime Elite’s YouTube page.

Their trio of veteran starters, graduate center Hunter Dickinson, graduate guard Dajuan Harris Jr. and senior forward KJ Adams will all be moving on. They could also need to replace other talent that would depart for professional opportunities, too.

“Samis is a guy we have been very excited about the last several months,” Self said in the KU release, which also described Calderon as a forward with a 7-foot-2 wingspan. “He has great size at 6-foot-8 and he can play multiple positions on the perimeter.
