South Georgia Tech secues first win over former coach

Tuscaloosa, AL – In a battle between two former South Georgia Technical College assistant coaches who are now head coaches, Jets head coach Chris Ballauer came away with a narrow 63 – 57 victory against Reco Dawson, who is the head coach of the Shelton State Bucs, in the Shelton State Classic in Tuscaloosa, AL.

However, that was the only win the Jets put together in that tournament as they dropped an 82 – 73 decision to Gadsden State Community College and a 68 – 60 loss to Lawson State Community College prior to the match-up with Shelton State. The Jets are now 1 – 4 on the season.

“Even though we haven’t gotten off to the start we would like this season, I’m proud of how hard these guys have kept working,” said SGTC Jets head coach Chris Ballauer. “I am excited about this next weekend’s game against two excellent teams, giving us a chance to get better.”

Jordon Dickson, a freshman guard from Canada, led the Jets in scoring with 15 points in the loss to Gadsden State. Alden Fitzgerald came off the bench to add 14 points and then Daryl Bod scored 13 points to close out the double digit scoring for the Jets.

Hendrens Bartelus scored nine points, Matija Vucic and Dwight Brown both posted eight points, Matt Mbole had four and Zhian Briggs added two points.
