Mizzou comfortably extended its winning streak to three games Thursday at Mizzou Arena, defeating Mississippi Valley State 111-39 on Norm Stewart Court, breaking multiple previous records in the Dennis Gates era.
The 72-point victory was, by quite some margin, the most lopsided win of Gates’ time as Missouri’s coach, eclipsing a 38-point win over Coastal Carolina on Nov. 23, 2022.
It was also the most points scored in a single game in the Gates era, taking the honor from 105-point outings over SIUE and Houston Christian in November 2022. The last time the Tigers scored 100 points was in the 2023-24 season-opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 6, 2023.
The Delta Devils were the last-ranked team on the basketball analytics site KenPom entering the game, and Mizzou made it look like that. The second half turned into an exhibition, as the first 12 Mizzou players to check into the game all scored points.
In the first half, Missouri’s Tamar Bates and Marques Warrick combined for 20 points and 6-of-7 shooting from behind the arc in the first half as Mizzou sprinted out to 51-19 lead at the break, just one field goal shy of the pre-game spread at 33.5 points.

Caleb Grill scored double-digit points for the second straight game, and Mark Mitchell hit the mark for the third straight outing. True freshmen Marcus Allen and Annor Boateng joined Bates, Warrick and Jacob Crews as also recording double-digit scoring games.
