It doesn’t always have to look pretty, it just has to end in a win.
At least that was the thought process for Michigan basketball, coming off a tight Power Four loss away from home, in its return to Crisler Center on Friday night against a TCU squad which had made three consecutive NCAA tournaments. The Wolverines came away with a hard-fought 76-64 win.
The box score was far from clean, however. U-M (2-1) finished with a season-high 21 turnovers, 16 of which came before the break and allowed TCU to take 12 more shot attempts. But it was U-M’s efficiency which prevailed, as the Wolverines hit 50% of their shots — going 26-for-52 — while holding the Horned Frogs to a 34.4% mark.

The Wolverines also had an improved effort on the glass, outrebounding TCU, which was without leading rebounder Ernest Udeh, 41-29.
Outside of the giveaway gaffes, it was the usual balance for head coach Dusty May’s crew. Nimari Burnett had a team-high 16 points and added six rebounds, Danny Wolf had a double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds), Sam Walters chipped in 10 points in just 16 miutes and Tre Donaldson added 14 points and three assists.
Michigan is back on the court at 6 p.m. Monday vs. Miami (Ohio) at Crisler Center (Big Ten Network).

Turnover trouble
The Wolverines announced a sellout for the first time this season, and it seemed that energy brought some early life as U-M opened on a 7-0 run, with five points from Burnett.
