The Drake men’s basketball team remained undefeated with a 63-61 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday night at the Knapp Center.
The Bulldogs, who moved to 3-0 on the season, were led by Bennett Stirtz, who scored 25 points. It’s the third different game with a leading scorer for Drake. Stirtz also led the team in boards, with seven, and assists, with four. Daniel Abreu scored 17 points and Nate Ferguson posted 10.
Drake shot 44% from the field and 29% from deep, draining 6-of-21 total 3-point attempts.
It was a tight game most of the way, with FGCU up by just one at the break. The largest team either team had on the night was just eight points. There were eight ties and 15 lead changes throughout the night.
Drake will be back in action Thursday when they hit the road for a neutral site game against Miami (FL) at the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic in South Carolina.
