BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball’s hot start didn’t impact their spot in the weekly rankings.
The Hoosiers are 3-0 with an average margin of victory of 23.3 points. They are averaging 85.7 points per game while shooting 53.3% from the field, a number that ranks eighth in the country.
Despite that, Indiana moved down two spots to No. 18 in this week’s USA TODAY basketball coaches poll and stayed put at No. 16 in this week’s AP Poll.

The Hoosiers have one final tune-up on Wednesday against UNC Greensboro before heading to the Bahamas for the Battle for Atlantis.
They play Louisville to open the tournament on Nov. 27 and are on the same side of the bracket as West Virginia (2-1) and Gonzaga (3-0). The Bulldogs already have wins over a Baylor team that was ranked in the top 10 to start the season and Arizona State.
The Hoosiers are one of four teams (Purdue, Illinois, and Wisconsin) in the Big Ten in the top 25 and the second-highest-ranked team in the conference behind the Boilermakers. There are still seven teams in the Big Ten that haven’t lost a game.
