Tennessee basketball cruises past Austin Peay behind Igor Milicic Jr., Zakai Zeigler

Igor Milicic Jr. set a screen at center court, then got a running start.

Zakai Zeigler waited for Milicic to catch up to bounce a well-placed pass. Milicic took it and slammed it with one hand as the Tennessee basketball duo that starred Sunday connected cleverly.

Milicic and Zeigler set the tone for the No. 9 Vols (3-0) against Austin Peay (3-1) as they cruised toward a tournament in the Bahamas with a 103-68 win at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.

Milicic finished with 23 points on 11-for-14 shooting with nine rebounds. Zeigler had 19 points and eight assists and made his first six field-goal attempts. Cade Phillips had 13 points and nine rebounds, both career highs.

Tennessee plays in the Baha Mar Championship, starting against Virginia on Thursday (9:30 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network). It will play either Baylor or St. John’s on Friday in its second game in the tournament.
