How Auburn’s win over North Alabama affects its place in the KenPom rankings

Auburn basketball earned its fourth win of the season on Monday by taking down North Alabama, 102-69, inside Neville Arena.

Auburn played consistent basketball by scoring 50 points in the first half and closing the game by scoring 52 in the final 20 minutes. The Tigers also ended the game on a high note by connecting on its final six shots of the game. As a team, Auburn limited North Alabama to 42% shooting from the field and allowed the Lions to record five assists, far below their 11.2 assists per game average. Offensively, Auburn connected on 62% of its attempts from the field and created 26 points off of 13 North Alabama turnovers.

Auburn remains the No. 1 team in KenPom after taking down North Alabama on Monday. The Tigers are one of three SEC teams to enter Tuesday in the top ten, joining Tennessee (No. 6) and Alabama (No. 10).

Auburn trails Gonzaga for the top spot in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency category. According to KenPom, Auburn is projected to score 122.3 points per 100 possessions. In Monday’s win, the Tigers scored 102 points in 72 possessions.
