Marquette and Purdue played such a game last year in the championship of the Maui Invitational.

But this season, the rematch between the No. 6 Boilermakers and the No. 14/15 Golden Eagles is at Fiserv Forum Tuesday night.

The teams have met four times since 2018, with Purdue winning three, including last season when the Boilermakers were ranked No. 2 and MU was ranked No. 4.

Though Purdue star Zach Edey and Marquette star Tyler Kolek have moved on to the NBA, both programs are coming off impressive wins. Marquette won at Maryland and Purdue upset No. 2 Alabama at home Friday night.

Marquette’s Kam Jones and Purdue’s Braden Smith are candidates to be player of the year in their respective conferences. Jones is averaging 24 points a game and Smith is averaging 15 points a game, but both are getting plenty of support from their teammates. Fletcher Loyer leads the Boilermakers in scoring at 17 points a game and Marquette has three other players averaging double figures.
