COLLEGE BASKETBALL: UTPB defeats University of the Southwest

Nov. 20—The UTPB men’s basketball team survived an 81-78 victory against University of the Southwest Tuesday at Falcon Dome in nonconference action.

The Falcons trailed 41-40 at halftime before coming away with a victory.

A free throw by Jayvin Brown with 41 seconds left brought the visitors to a three-point deficit.

Jalen Mcafee Marion missed a game-tying 3-pointer as time point and the Falcons held on for the win.

UTPB improved to 2-1.

UTPB’s Alex Matthews finished with 23 points to lead the Falcons in scoring while DJ Armstrong had 19 and Dario Domingos had 15.

Anthony Scott had 20 points to lead Southwest while Jacob Koontz finished with 13.
