College football Week 13 picks: Louisville-Pittsburgh, Kentucky-Texas, more

Assistant sports editor Rich Barak still has a one-game lead over Jason Frakes, but sports director Natalie Pierre is climbing the standings one week at a time in The Courier Journal sports staff college football picks.

Pierre went 3-2 last week, while everyone else went 2-3.

For Week 13, all eight sports staffers predicted Texas and Ohio State to win their matchups.

Ryan Black was the only one to pick Pittsburgh to defeat Louisville.

Black, Frakes and Barak chose Liberty over Western Kentucky.

In our last matchup, Brooks Holton and Alexis Cubit were the only ones to pick BYU over a hot Arizona State team.

College Football Picks Week 13

Here’s a look at this week’s picks. As is our custom, predictions are straight-up winners and losers (not against the spread), with rankings based on the latest US LBM Coaches Poll. All times listed are ET.

No. 5 Indiana at No. 2 Ohio State

How to watch: Noon Saturday, Fox

The picks: Eight for Ohio State

This is the 98th meeting between the programs and the fourth time both teams are ranked in the Top 25. The Buckeyes have won the last 28 meetings. Four teams in the Big Ten are either undefeated or have one loss, and the Buckeyes are the only team in the conference that will have played the other three teams this season (Penn State, Indiana and Oregon). The Hoosiers are one of three undefeated teams nationally. The Indiana offense is tied with Miami for the most touchdowns in the FBS (57).

Western Kentucky at Liberty

How to watch: 1 p.m. Saturday, ESPN+

The picks: Five for Western Kentucky and three for Liberty (Frakes, Barak and Black)

Western Kentucky lost its first conference game last week against Louisiana Tech. This week has conference championship implications, with the Hilltoppers having one conference loss and Liberty two. Jacksonville State is the only team undefeated in Conference USA play. If the Flames win, they can move to second place in the conference. Sam Houston also has one conference loss (31-14 to the Hilltoppers).
