⭐ GAME OF THE NIGHT
Metamora 60, Springfield High 47: Liv Vaughan and Addy Wooden scored 22 points apiece and the Cardinals defeated the Senators at the Galesburg Tournament.
Vaughan buried three of her five 3-pointers in the first half and she had 14 points by halftime, helping Metamora take a 33-23 lead. The Cardinals extended their lead to 49-34 after three quarters.
Wooden made five field goals and swished 12 of 14 free throws. Metamora went 13-for-20 from the foul line as a team.
Senior forward Ariana Williams led Springfield with eight points and teammates Aniyah Rhinehouse and Keziah Toran followed with seven apiece.
The Senators made 12 of 22 free throw attempts and senior guard Abby Borders made two 3s and finished with six points.
Aubrey Beavers/Lovely Jackson, Lanphier: Beavers and Jackson combined for 30 points and the Lions won their season-opener 47-15 over Urbana at Lober-Nika Gym. Beavers had 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first half and Jackson had 11 of her 14 before intermission as Lanphier led 32-6 at the break. Amiyah Jarrett added nine points in the win.
Izzy Hassebrock, Sacred Heart-Griffin: The senior point guard scored a team-high 13 points, but the Cyclones lost 42-38 at Pekin in their season-opening game. SHG trailed 19-10 at halftime. Zoe Kormah came alive for Pekin, scoring 12 of her game-high 15 points in the…
