Vanderbilt basketball will face its biggest test of the season when it heads to the Charleston Classic tournament.
The Commodores (4-0) will start off by facing Nevada (4-0) on Thursday. Their subsequent games will depend on game results but the other teams participating in the event are Drake, FAU, Miami, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall and VCU. The winner of Thursday’s game will face the winner of the Seton Hall/VCU game on Friday, while the losers will also face off.
Early in the first season under coach Mark Byington, Devin McGlockton has been a standout, averaging 16.5 points and 10.3 rebounds. Vanderbilt’s overall performance has been uneven, with strong showings against Cal and Maryland Eastern Shore but less inspiring wins against Southeast Missouri and Jackson State.
The entire tournament will be held at TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina, on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
