Forward Arthur Kaluma had his second double-double of the season as Texas basketball reached the finals of the four-team UKG Legends Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y., with a 70-66 win over Syracuse Thursday.
Kaluma, a 6-foot-7 senior who transferred to Texas in the offseason from Kansas State, scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to pace Texas (4-1). Kaluma converted six of 11 field goals and shot 4-of-4 from the foul line while adding four assists, one steal and one block in 39 minutes. Freshman guard Tre Johnson tallied 16 points and three assists in 35 minutes, while junior Chendall Weaver added 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes.

The difference in the contest came at the foul line. The Longhorns shot 12-of-14 from the stripe, including a perfect 6-of-6 from Johnson in the final 60 seconds, while Syracuse hit just 9-of-18 from the free-throw line.
Texas led 41-30 at halftime and built its advantage to 16 points in the second half before Syracuse (3-1) rallied to take a lead with 4 minutes, 9 seconds left in the game.
With their win, the Longhorns advance to Friday’s championship game and will face Saint Joseph’s at approximately 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
